Colt: The Industrialist

The kingdom of Colichemarde is ruled with an iron fist by Agnes the Cold Queen, who is also deemed the very first immortal. Or, at least, one of them. The Queen seeks the gem known as Painite, which, in this dimension, is considered bountiful. There's just one problem: Dragons.

While his family is facing poverty and could be thrown out onto the streets at any moment, Victor Lander Jr. has to work three jobs and is arranged to be married to the daughter of a Lord, Clementine Harding. Getting his hands on some Painite could really help out his family and provide much more than that, but having lost his father while in search for the rare-to-come-by gem, that ceases to be an option. That is, until Wrin Teller comes along, offering a purse of Painite in exchange for keeping her safe. Sounds easy enough. Too bad for Victor: he has no clue what kind of demons are after her.

While set in a steampunk atmosphere, this is not a steampunk novel, nor can it be truly considered a period piece.
